How long does it take to design a website?

In all reality it depends on the designer! If you are DIYing your own website I’ve heard some people literally wait 6 months – a year before they hit publish! But the great thing about hiring a website designer, is you will know how long their process will take. I’ve seen a variety of different timelines from a “done in a day website” to 12 weeks+.

If you choose to go with me for a 5 page website design only (your branding, color palette, fonts, and copy are already in place), then my process takes just 4 weeks!

What does the website design process look like?

Before start date: I send over a questionnaire to collect all copy, photos and brand assets for your website.

Week 1: I create two different Mock-up Website designs.

You read that right – TWO mockups. I have mad respect for the designers that do the one concept method, but I really pride myself in providing options to my clients, so I create two website mockups! What is a website mockup? It’s purpose is to show you what your website will look like design and layout wise. Once that’s approved we then go into the development stage where we make your website interactive!

Week 2: Three rounds of revisions to finalize website mockup

I find that 3 revision rounds are more than enough for my clients! Some don’t even use all revisions and go straight to the build out phase!

Week 3: Squarespace or Showit build week

I take just 1 week to duplicate your website mockup into the website platform of your choice! This will bring your website mockup to life with animation, links, buttons, moving canvases and more!

Week 4: Final week of revisions!

The last week is for final revisions! Every single day of this week is when we will fine tune all the details before hitting publish!

My process is extremely streamlined in Asana so you will know exactly when I’m working on something or when I need feedback from you!
